I'm Not Clumsy, It's Just The Floor Hates Me

A few weeks before Christmas, my husband was out of town and the cleaning clutter bug bit me...bad. I had the carpets cleaned, the windows cleaned, I was even down to cleaning the rocks that surround the candle that sits in a beautiful dish in my entry (you'd have to see it to agree with me.) I mean, I was tearing through my house and leaving nothing untouched.

One morning, I was so happy to have finally gone through the stack of old magazines I swore I kept because there was one thing in there I would need in the future, I decided I'd grab the stack of them, my iPad, my phone, my purse, the empty glass to put in the dishwasher, and who knows what else I had managed to gather up to take downstairs.

Anyway, I always, :'( I can't say that now) hold onto the rail on our curving staircase cause I've been know to be less than graceful and usually trip up the stairs. So at the top of the stairs, arms full of my decluttering, I looked to the side and down at my feet to start down the stairs.

About the third step from the bottom, I stepped on one of the dog's toys, twisted sideways, threw everything up in the air in a desperate attempt to grab the rail, while my momentum was launching me toward a spectacular crash landing on my right side on the tile floor (iPad and phone survived the crash with their protective covers.)

Once I was able to take a breath, I very slowly rolled over and sat up. A quick run through of my aches and pains, ended with knowing my foot/ankle was going to require x-rays. I'd start there and see what else kept hurting as I called my sister for a ride to the doctor. After two clinics, x-rays, then an appointment with my favorite podiatrist, Dr. Aziaz the following day, (yes I have a favorite after my son breaking his ankles 4 times in sports), and a fabulous lunch with my sister as we watched an easter egg size bruise grow on the top of my foot, I was the not-so-happy wearer of an ugly Velcro boot contraption.

So, this story is told as an explanation to my dilemma this morning. After I had tromped and stomped all the way downstairs (holding onto the rail) I realized I had the Lillian Classic Shell on my Miche Classic bag.  While her beautiful plum color and croc texture is lovely, she didn't go with my brown, white and gold abstract leopard shirt and brown pants. (Yes, I love animal prints, leopard especially.)

So was it worth it to tromp back up the stairs and down again just for a Shell to match my outfit? After the fact, I can say yes. The lovely Kandace Classic Shell is just gorgeous and the perfect accent for my outfit.

Now, that my purse is dressed, I can finally leave for the office!

A Fashionista Blogger/Photog I Am Not

Violet Classic Miche Shell
One of my New Year's thoughts (I don't do resolutions anymore) was that I need to make my blogs (yes, I have more than one) more personal. That was the easy part. Deciding how to do that... not so much.

I'm not a fashionista. Yes, I do wash and curl my hair every morning. I wouldn't think of going out of the house without lipstick - mascara I forget - but every other type of makeup in my drawer, check. I do review my outfit in my full length mirror - front, side and back view (the back view has cause many last minute wardrobe changes) before I leave the house.

I'm not a brand name/designer shopper. My wardrobe choices are safe. Nice. Nothing too flashy or trendy. So how was I going to make a blog about my Miche Bag business more personal?

I've been carrying a Miche Bag for years and loved them so much I have now been selling them for over a year. I carry one always - usually a Classic or Demi, a Petite when I travel or a quick trip to the mall and a Prima for a briefcase or a trip to the movies. I have been known to wear the same Shell (gasp!) for days and days, and over the summer I carried my Kinsley pewter Demi Shell (so sad she's sold out now) for months because she matched my cute pair of pewter sandals with crystal beads on the straps.

Anyway, the whole reason Miche purses are sooooo fabulous - at least the magic that makes us different - is that you can change your purse's Shell to fit your mood, your outfit, the occasion or whatever. So why wasn't I changing my Shells?

So, back to New Year's thoughts. I'm going to make a point of changing my Shells to fit my moods and my outfits and I'll share them both (moods and Shells) on my blog. Now I just have to figure out how to become a fashion photographer!

Popcorn and My Parker Prima Bag

Ebony Classic Shell
Cinthia Classic Shell
Last night I was all dressed in a cute silver grey sparkly sweater, fun black pants with a silver embroidered swirl on the leg, and was deciding which Shell -- the black croc textured Ebony or the silver ruffled Cinthia Classic Shell -- looked best with my outfit for  a night with friends to the movies and dinner when...

My husband totally changed my plans with the words "You need to carry your big purse tonight." Since when did he notice what size purse or shell I carried?  The answer? He had bought popcorn to smuggle into the movie and my Prima Bag was the perfect size to carry it without discovery.

So, I pulled out my favorite. The chartreuse Parker Shell on my Prima Bag provided an unexpected color pop for my outfit and hid my husband's popcorn. The movie, Lincoln, was an interesting history lesson for us having been raised in Illinois, the Land of Lincoln, and dinner with friends was divine.

I kept my eye on the Parker Shell for a long time before I ordered her, and she's one of my favorites!

If you like any of these three Shells, order them now because they're going to be gone very soon!
